Goal:
Helmet Safety Incentives are designed to encourage helmet use in equestrians who may not otherwise consider wearing a helmet. The idea is to reward the highest placed competitors at events who are wearing helmets with some kind of reward to acknowledge them not only for protecting their head, but for being positive role models.
How Do Incentives Work?
If you have three divisions at your event, we would suggest offering an incentive to the highest placed competitor in each division who wore a helmet, and also have a random drawing for all competitors who wore a helmet that did not place first in their division (so nobody feels like they didn’t have a chance to win).
The prizes offered as incentives can be cash, gift vouchers, equestrian products etc. Anything that would appeal to an equestrian to go and put on a helmet, prior to competing.
How Can Riders4Helmets Help?
If you would like to partner with Riders4Helmets to hold a Helmet Safety Incentive at your event, please contact us. We can help promote your event in advance, by assisting with writing press releases and promoting it via our website, Facebook, and Twitter. We can also put out a request for sponsors for your event (depending on the size of the event). We would appreciate you first asking local companies in your are if they would be willing to donate prizes (tack, feed stores may be willing to donate some products), or cash (if you can find 3 business to donate $50 each that covers the first prize for 3 divisions). If you snap a photos of the winners of the helmet incentives at your event, we can write a post-event press release and include information about the event on the riders4helmets website.
