It would never OCCUR to me not to wear a helmet when riding a horse. Mine probably saved my life last weekend.
Even though the back of my head was perfectly cushioned and uninjured, I am still suffering the effects of concussion 6 days later, due to my brain bouncing off the FRONT of my skull.
I have recovered quickly but won’t be riding again for at least 2 more weeks … and only when I get a replacement helmet. Although it appears to be undamaged, it has done the job it was purchased for. Time for a new one.
Always wear your helmets please people. No matter how quiet you think your horse is (and mine is NOT!!) – things can happen any time, any place. Mine did an almighty buck at the walk. I never thought he would get me off in that manner. Thank goodness for helmets!
Now if only I could get a seat-belt too

Every ride, every time. I even wear one while lunging or training in hand and while driving my mini. I can live without a leg, an arm , a kidney or a lung but when your brains are scrambled, it is a bad, bad thing.
