New Years Eve Helmet Photo Contest Entries

Below are the entries that were submitted for the New Year’s Eve Helmet Photo Contest. We will be asking our guest judge to select a winner and will announce who that is shortly. Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry.

This is my 16.1 hand Thoroughbred Tommy and I. Several weeks ago before this photo was taken, I had a bad fall off of Tommy and I wasn’t wearing my helmet. My face was cut up and I have a black eye. I had a concussion that lasted for several days which made me miss quite a few days of school. I didn’t realize how important helmets were till this experience. I wish I didn’t have to experience this fall to realize this now. But for now, I will always wear my helmet!  – Dawn Griffin

This is a picture of me wearing my Troxel Sierra Helmet after doing the Dolphin Dip in Surf City, NC on New Years! About 4,000 people came to the event to jump in the ocean on New Year’s to benefit the Wounded Warrior’s Project that supports our troops. I ran in the ocean & dove under the waves then came out for this photo op (didn’t want to mess up my helmet with the salt water!). Cheers to 2012!!! – Erin Watkins

This is a photo of my daughter Chris meeting her friend’s new horse, Willow, on New Year’s Eve.  I was happy to see Chris wearing her helmet even though she knew she’d just be doing groundwork with the horse. – Mary Burns

Love toasting marshmellows in the fireplace! Not ashamed to strap my helmet on anywhere. :) Have a happy new year, everyone at Riders4Helmets! – Madison Hood

Trail Riding – Deb McGahie

My 18 hand Trakehner, Bosley. You can see I look a little dwarfed on his back, my 17in saddle looks like a racing saddle…lol. Thought I would also show a close up of us with me on the ground. I hope you can see why it is so important to wear a helmet when riding, specially if I were to fall from his back. Whether it is a fall from the back of a horse at any height, or a kick or hip shove into a wall or post with you on the ground, strap one on when dealing with horses if you value your brain.  EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED. – Sharon Richert

My horse and I are perfect together, until she acts up. One day were were doing a jumping course and rode up to the last line the in was very pretty so we continued on to the out of the line. Upon seeing the fence my horse Dee Dee decided to stop. I fell over her head and took down an entire gate with only my head. Luckily I was wearing a helmet and only walked away with a few bruises. If I hadn’t been wearing a helmet I would have had a concussion or worse. – Erin Ehrlich
